Here is the chair in our home. It was quite a task to get all the bolts and screws out of the bottom. It was a sturdy chair and had lots of surprises when it came apart. Fox was enjoying all the treats that fell out in the breakdown process. After pulling it completely apart, we decided it would take three yards of upholstery fabric and some black paint. We spent two hours trying to pick out fabric. Our initial pick was too thin of a fabric and it took a while to agree on a second fabric. Towards the end we were both overly agreeable on what fabric and we walked out with a heavy tweed natural died green (Whitney actually found it, not me). Because of the heavy existing fabric we wanted to cover it to make sure it retained its shape.
We were going to sand it but decided to try just spray painting it first. The laquer adhered the paint extremely well and allowed the wood grains to show through the paint without sucking up all the paint. It took almost four cans of matte paint and then a matte finishing spray.

It turned out so good and we love the chair. It is really comfortable and adds the extra chair to our apartment that we need. With a little shuffling we have a new chair and a new living room. Loads of Saturday fun! I wonder what next Saturday will bring!
