Catching the Christmas Spirit

It is crazy to me to think that in a few days it will be Christmas! Who made it okay for time to fly by the way it does? This also means that the year is wrapping up, and I know that I'm no where near becoming the person I committed myself to become, as of last year. Thank heavens for a new year ahead--I will try again next year!

As for catching the Christmas Spirit, we were just discussing the other night some traditions that we have and want to establish in our little family. We both agree the last thing we want Christmas to become is a day full of bratty children, ungrateful and only worried about themselves. Traditions have the power to create some of the most lasting memories that we have, especially when coupled with the presence of family members and loved ones.

Our Traditions:

  • Watch Elf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carey style)
  • Drink Glogg and eggnog religiously
  • Set up the Nativity and add a new piece
  • Christmas Eve with the Family
  • Decorating the house and tree (the rule is the tree has to be different each year)
  • Read the 24 days of Christmas book
  • Give funny gifts to the neighbors (this year was Snowman Poop)
  • Read the Polar Express
  • Read Luke 2
  • Do the 12 Days of Christmas anonymously to someone around us
  • Make and decorate sugar cookies
  • Check out Christmas lights around town
  • and the list goes on...
The fastest way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!
