We're back for now..

If you haven't heard by now, you're in for a real treat. We're building a home! And the best part is that we only have a couple weeks left!!! Seriously, we're being serious. It all kind of happened so quickly, it's crazy to think how far along things have progressed and that soon enough we will be moving in.

It all started when we decided to just meet with a banker about the possibility of buying a home. I had ran into an old teacher from high school who now sells real estate on the side and she started talking about the market and how it was such a great time to buy. It was then we decided to at least talk to a banker and see what kind of damage we could get ourselves into.

We were super excited when the banker gave us two thumbs up and said "start looking"! We looked at a few homes around town, but it wasn't until lunch the next day that things started to really develop for us. Turned out that my oldest brother J.T. was in the beginning stages of building a home in Iona. Which is about 20 minutes away from my parents house in Idaho Falls. I had been to the jobsite several times, but had never even considered the possibility of moving into that home. JT said, "Why don't you buy my home?" and I said, " Why don't you make me an offer?!" Well folks, about six weeks later and hours and hours of deliberations between siding, cabinets, countertops, paint colors, light fixtures, rock choices, arches, wall placements, closets, sinks, faucets, handles, doorknobs, carpet, tile, door, casing, base boards, lighting and the list go's on and on...we're waiting to move into our new home!

We packed up our little rental home into a storage unit that's about a mile from our new house and moved in with my parents to wait out the completion of the home and the loan process.

And now, for the part you've all been waiting for... a TEASER for the exterior of the home from sheeting to current day!

This was the state of the home when we decided to buy it. We were able to make a ton of changes on the inside and to add lots of features like exterior lighting and a giant archway inside the house.

Here is the Rock. Chief Joseph Cap Cod. We chose a black mortar and love how it turned out!
Here you can see the Palm Springs Tan siding on the east side of the home. JT usually sides his entire home in this color, so he was quite nervous when we told him we wanted a darker color siding. We also opted for a brown garage door which we love!
Twilight Shadow is the name of this siding. The siding company couldn't even give us any addresses of places to see it used because they didn't have any! Call us numero uno!

 Drum Roll please ......

This was a digital rendering that I created in Photoshop from a home my brother had previously built.
Here is the finished product today! We're so excited to finally see the dark siding on the home and completed with the brown shakes. We love it! ( The front door is getting changed out) What do you think? White or Brown Wood

We hope you have enjoyed this brief tour and will stay tuned for more updates as we progress on the interior!

:) Home sweet home....and I pick the dark door over the white door... but what do I know

I think the white door really makes the white accents "pop" and adds a nice contrast. Can't wait to see it!!!
